Not Giving Up - Auschwitz Poland

It's an eerie feeling being in Auschwitz. It starts with a bus ride where they reply a video showing the horrors that went on during World War II, which turns your stomach more than the winding road, and once there you're faced with this lonely train track leading straight into the camp.

We enjoyed getting lost in the winding streets as we viewed the history that surrounded us, and even though it was obvious that the town has seen better days there was a defining aura that made us feel totally at ease.

Worth The Wait - Lencois Maranhenses Brazil

During a trip to Rio de Janeiro Brazil we took a few days out to explore an oasis in the middle of the desert called Lencois Maranhenses. My first day in Florence I was not overly impressed. It was smaller than I thought, getting a decent shot of the Duomo was near impossible and I couldn't get tickets to see the statue of David without standing in a two hour line. Our first trip overseas was in June 2007, and after two weeks traveling Europe we ended up having our last day in London. We ventured over to Buckingham Palace hoping to get tickets to go inside, but found it closed for the parade. Lonely At The Top - Tokyo Japan

Traveling to Tokyo was like stepping into a whole nother world. Everyone was polite, workers dressed the same and was overall clean; this is all despite there being almost 14 million people living virtually on top of each other. There was no part of the city that felt unsafe to walk in, and I was always greeted with a smile despite not knowing the language. However, as much as I loved to visit I'm sure it's quite a lonely place to live if I couldn't communicate.

A guilded tour was needed to enter, and wasn't cheap, but the beauty of the place was well worth the price of admission. It was a long day of sightseeing as we took the train on a day trip to Bellinzona. We didn't know what to expect other than it was a few hours trip from Milan and the closest city in Switzerland that looked decent enough to travel to.
