From Afar
SEPTEMBER 14th, 2021
My first day in Florence I was not overly impressed. It was smaller than I thought, getting a decent shot of the Duomo was near impossible and I couldn't get tickets to see the statue of David without standing in a two hour line. It wasn't until I was able to get a clear view of the city from afar that I understood the beauty.
Changing my perspective allowed me to be more open to what Florence had to offer and this got me thinking how much our view of the world is determined based upon our personal perception.
When faced with a problem, political issue or even a first impression dislike of someone or something, it's good to take a step out of your norm and see it from a different angle. The closer we are to these problems the more emotional we allow ourselves to be, and taking that emotion out may be the difference between ignorance and tolerance.
