Bright Lights

SEPTEMBER 28th, 2021

Moving to New York City was a huge change from Los Angeles, especially during the pandemic. It took a bit of an adjustment to maneuver the trains and be without a car, but after twenty plus years of looking after our kids we felt it was time to fend for ourselves.

It's more than just a fresh start; it's "our second life" so to speak. There we were in the living room in Glendale, California asking ourselves what we wanted to do with the rest of our lives and one thing became abundantly clear... we were not ready to retire by any means. So when the opportunity came to move we didn't hesitate.

Having kids leave the nest can be an awkward time and quite scary if a plan hasn't already been in place, but reminding yourself that you did all that you could in raising your children to be the best versions of themselves is key. After all, you spent the last few decades teaching them how to function in the world the least you can do is let them live in it their way. So why not treat yourself to your own possibilities. It's never too late to start something new but it can be too early to settle.
