Anticipation
MAY 23rd, 2021
In late fall of 2014, my journey took me through San Luis Obispo, California for a weekend get-a-way of wine tasting. The morning shower threatened to put a damper on the trip as the vineyards were not ideal for the shot I was hoping to get, but then along came this road which changed my tune. Without hesitation, I stopped the car in the middle of the road and set up for the perfect angle. I can still smell the fresh dew as California was in desperate need of rainfall after some time with a drought.
I learned a valuable lesson that day; that sometimes anticipation can mislead us into looking for one thing but may very well guide us to another. I've been fortunate to capture quite a few vineyards over the years, but I'll always remember this rain soaked road as a reminder that no matter how much I try to plan for something to happen, I need to keep my eyes open for the real opportunity that I am destined to hit.
Luckily, the skies opened up to allow for those blue skies after all.
